Following the success of our recent trip to Brittany, we are delighted to share details of Devon Music Education Hub’s Summer Concert Tour 2027, which will visit the Rhineland region of Germany from 22-27 July.
This opportunity is open to all intermediate and advanced young singers and instrumentalists currently in Year 7 or aboveYou do not need to be a member of a Hub-supported activity or County Group to take part – a tour choir and band/orchestra will be formed out of those that sign up, and if you can sing and play an instrument, you can do both! The tour will offer exciting opportunities to:
  • Perform in concert venues across the Rhineland
  • Collaborate and make lasting friendships with fellow young musicians
  • Experience German culture and hospitality
  • Develop musically and personally through travel and performance

We are working with OneStage Specialist Concert Tours, an ABTA and ATOL registered provider with extensive experience supporting schools, Music Hubs, and music organisations across the UK.

While the itinerary is still being finalised, our current plan is to depart Exeter on the evening of Thursday 22 July and return late on Tuesday 27 July, travelling by executive coach and ferry. Accommodation will be on a half-board basis at the Jugendherberge Bad Honnef youth hostel, located between Bonn and Coblenz. During the tour, participants will perform three concerts, enjoy cultural excursions, and have time to relax and explore the picturesque Rhineland region. Although these dates fall within the official school term, many schools are expected to have completed their academic year by this point. Where absence is required, we will write to your child’s Headteacher in support of the visit, although families must still follow their school’s usual absence request procedures.

The total cost of the tour is £750, including travel, accommodation, and all excursions. Payment can be made as a lump sum or in instalments:

  • £150 non-refundable deposit on booking
  • £150 in November 2026
  • £150 in January 2027
  • £150 in March 2027
  • £150 final payment in May 2027

We appreciate that this represents a significant financial commitment for many families. If cost may be a barrier to participation, please contact us in confidence. We may be able to offer a more flexible payment schedule or additional financial support for low-income families.

To secure a place, please complete the online registration form. An invoice for the £150 non-refundable deposit will then be issued, and places will be confirmed upon receipt of payment.
