Children in Care

A child who has been in the care of their local authority for more than 24 hours is known as a looked after child. Looked after children are also often referred to as children in care, a term which many children and young people prefer, and will usually be:

  • living with foster parents
  • living in a residential children’s home or
  • living in residential settings like schools or secure units.

Devon & Torbay Music Education Hubs (the Hub) believe all children and young people should have the opportunity to enjoy, achieve and celebrate through music. The Hub work in partnership with the Virtual Schools for Devon and Torbay to ensure that children in care have access to free music instrument hire, instrumental lessons, and ensemble membership. Please get in touch if you would like to find out more about how we support Children in Care
