Devon & Torbay Music Education Hubs and Devon Youth Jazz Orchestra invite you to join international jazz trombonist Mark Nightingale for a FREE workshop for young trombone players. Join us from 2.00-3.30pm on Saturday 15 October at Clyst Vale Community College, Exeter EX5 3AJ.
Mark Nightingale is one of the UK’s top jazz trombonists, leads his own quintet and big band, and plays with many other ensembles, including the John Wilson Orchestra, which has featured in the BBC Proms many times. Many young brass players will know his name through the superb music he writes for brass instruments, with his “Easy Jazzy ‘Tudes” being one of his most popular books.
Mark’s workshop will focus on several aspects of jazz trombone, including technique and phrasing, and the session will feature both funk and swing grooves to explore these areas as well as jazz soloing. Aimed at participants of Grade 3-5 ability, Mark will be ready to simplify or extend skills on the day depending on who comes along, so there will be something for all young trombonists to do!
Thanks to funding from the DfE and Arts Council England, we are able to offer this workshop for young trombone players at no cost.
