Bushell Youth Community Orchestra Workshop

The Bushell Youth Community Orchestra has again secured funding from the Devon Music Education Hub to develop and enrich local young orchestral musicians.  The funding we have received will continue to be used to expand our services to provide satellite training groups for any child who has started learning a musical instrument, but who is not yet ready to join the orchestra.

Children who attend the training groups will work with local peripatetic musicians who will offer free group development lessons every Tuesday evening whilst the orchestra rehearses.  Free instrumental tuition will be provided in brass, woodwind and strings (violin and cello).

An open day for all prospective instrumentalists is being held on Tuesday 20 February to which all our established orchestral members are invited.  During the day, our orchestra members will act as mentors to the young people attending the workshop and also have the chance to spend the day rehearsing and improving their musicianship, by working with our peripatetic music teachers.  The initial timings are a 11.30am start with a 3.00pm finish, more information will follow once I have an idea of the number of people attending the workshop day.

Pupils will need to bring their own packed lunch and the whole event will finish for approx. 3.00pm, with a performance at 2.30pm for any parents who wish to come and watch the work we will have done.
