Rich Hamer is a professional musician, performing and teaching in the UK. He holds a Master’s degree (with Distinction) in Music from University of Plymouth, and a BA(Hons) degree in Music (Performance) from Dartington College of Arts. As a respected guitar teacher with 25 years experience, and a uniquely mindful and positive approach, Rich has helped thousands of people to play guitar, understand music, and genuinely connect with their creativity. He has been named Best Guitar Educator in Plymouth two years running by Distinguished Teaching. Alongside running his own guitar school, he has also worked as a guitar tutor in education, at primary, secondary (including Ivybridge Community College, Devonport High School for Girls, Plymouth High School, Tavistock College), and university level, and for various guitar clubs (including ‘Jam Slam’ for Ivybridge Community College, which has funding, and now offers accredited RSL awards) and other music workshops. He currently teaches guitar at Ivybridge Community College, and for the Music BA course at University of Plymouth. As an experienced guitarist, he has performed, composed and recorded across a range of genres. He began his career young, working as a solo classical/spanish guitarist, in acoustic duos/trios, and as an electric guitarist with blues/funk/rock/metal bands. Now he performs primarily as a pop/jazz guitarist. He has released a number of albums with bands. Rich has performed with bands for celebrity audiences, including Dawn French, Ade Edmondson, Jennifer Saunders and Rick Stein; at top clubs and venues all over the UK including Le Quecumbar (London), Black Cotton Club (London), Jamboree (London), Verdi at Royal Albert Hall (London), The Victoria & Albert Museum (London), St Moritz Club (London), Round Midnight (London), Edinburgh Fringe (Scotland), Newnham Park Volksfest, Barbican Jazz and Blues Festival (Plymouth), Budleigh Salterton Literary Festival, Salcombe Festival, Maker Festival, Looe Festival, Saltash Festival, Totnes Festival, Start Bay Festival, Golowan Festival (Penzance) and many others; on BBC and various other radio stations and across the media; and he has played at countless other events.
