Devon Music Education Hub are delighted to be collaborating with leading brass educator John Miller, acclaimed brass quintet Dublin Brass and Ivybridge Music Centre to offer young brass and percussionists in Devon, Plymouth and Torbay this exciting opportunity to play side by side with some of the finest musicians and educators in the country.

Join us and brass & percussion players from Ivybridge Music Centre from 3:30-5:30pm on Wednesday 18th March 2026 at Ivybridge Community College, Harford Road, IVYBRIDGE, PL21 0JA with a sharing for parents/carers from 5:20pm. This event is open to 9-18 year olds that play any brass or percussion instrument to a Grade 3 level of ability or higher and is being offered free of charge.

Participants will get to perform alongside like-minded peers and leading educators, working on breathing, technique and performing skills in a fun and encouraging environment.
John Miller is a distinguished British trumpeter and educator. A former member of the Philip Jones Brass Ensemble and the Philharmonia Orchestra, his influential teaching career includes major posts at the Royal Northern College of Music—where he served as Head of Brass and later Head of Wind, Brass & Percussion—and many years as professor of trumpet at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama

Dublin Brass is Ireland’s leading brass ensemble, founded in 2005 by trumpeter William Palmer. The quintet features many of the country’s top brass musicians and their work spans concerts, recordings and collaborations, including the acclaimed ‘Breath Upon The Flame’ project, which blends classical brass with Irish traditional music. Dublin Brass has appeared in major Irish venues and national festivals.

Ivybridge Music Centre provides affordable, inclusive after‑school music education for primary and secondary students, funded by the Devon Music Education Hub. Based at Ivybridge Community College, it offers orchestral programmes, band sessions, instrument tuition and ensembles, with reduced fees for families eligible for Free School Meals.

Devon Music Education Hub would like to acknowledge the generous support of Ivybridge Community College for hosting this event.
