Donna-Marie Broomfield (nee Hughes) is an experienced professional singing teacher, vocal pedagogue and pianist, with extensive one-to-one teaching experience across junior, adolescent and adult learners. She specialises in classical singing, musical theatre and sacred repertoire, with a strong emphasis on healthy vocal development, confidence building and long-term musicianship. She is a professional soprano with a background in operatic and concert performance, and has taught singing and piano for over 15 years in both independent school settings and private practice. Donna-Marie currently teaches a full studio of approximately 70 students per week, and is known for her ability to build strong rapport quickly with younger singers while supporting older students through vocal change, exam preparation and performance anxiety. Donna-Marie holds an MA in Voice Pedagogy (University of Wales Trinity Saint David / Voice Study Centre), alongside advanced performance and teaching qualifications including LTCL (Singing Recital) and DipABRSM in Vocal Teaching, with Grade 8 qualifications in Singing, Piano and Music Theory. Her continuing professional development includes specialist training in vocal health, music performance anxiety, safeguarding, counselling skills and trauma-aware teaching practice. She has significant experience preparing students for ABRSM and Trinity examinations, auditions, concerts and school productions, and regularly supports pupils progressing into higher-level music study. Her teaching approach is rooted in bel canto principles, age-appropriate technical development, and an anxiety-aware, student-centred methodology. Donna-Marie has worked collaboratively within school music departments alongside instrumental and choral colleagues, and is familiar with the wider Devon music education landscape. While not currently attached to a county ensemble, her work strongly supports progression pathways, helping students move confidently into choirs, youth ensembles, graded examinations and performance opportunities within the region.
