Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra Set Works LIVE! – KS4 Concerts

This is a fantastic opportunity to inspire and support young people’s music education through a dynamic and interactive live concert experience. Designed for students currently studying or preparing to study GCSE or BTEC Music, the event offers a unique setting to explore set works and compositional techniques in depth.

Presented by BSO Associate Patrick Bailey and seven Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra musicians, the concert provides a highly engaging environment for musical analysis. Students will gain deeper insight into key works and compositional approaches, enhancing their understanding and supporting their coursework.

The first half of the concert focuses on four set works, each introduced with live analysis followed by a full performance. In the second half, students explore composition through a collaborative process, culminating in a brand-new piece composed by Patrick Bailey using ideas submitted by participating schools via a composition storyboard.
